Title: Electroencephalography/sonication-mediated human brain-brain interfacing technology


Abstract:

Direct communication between two brains is an upcoming area of research. The present paper suggests feasible techniques for accomplishing neural transfer between two human brains, and discusses the currently most feasible method given the available state of technology. For signaling originating from the human brain, a convincing steady-state visual evoked potential (SSVEP)-based brain-computer interfacing technique is introduced. In parallel, low-intensity focused-ultrasound sonication is proposed for signaling directed to the human brain in a non-invasive and spatially focal manner. The convergence of both SSVEP-based brain-computer interfacing and sonication-based computer-brain interfacing may lead to practical brain-brain interfaces. This potent technology will introduce new approaches for wireless, bi-directional, and intact communications from one brain directly to another brain, in a ubiquitous space.
